I don’t blame Da Silva for wanting to go. He has been in Israel for 6 years starting with Hapoel Kfar Sava (second division) when he was 20 and has worked his way up with an opportunity to play for one the elite clubs in France making over $1 million a season. Hapoel has no chance to keep him. They should take the money and use it to rebuild the team. Hapoel will have a good chance to make the Champions League GS since they will be seeded in every qualifying round.

Agreed, they’re wasting their time with him, take the money and run. However, they are looking for replacements, they’d better hurry up though, qualifying starts in early August, late July.

What’s the status on De Ridder? Is he going back to Hapoel?

It’s unclear what will happen with him. I think he wants to stay with Hapoel, but they may be up to his manager at Wigan. De Ridder showed some flashes of potential at the end of the season, but I’m not completely sold on him yet.
