Israel’s U-21 Team Loses 1-0 To Sweden
A disappointing result leaves Israel needing to win their last two games in order to qualify for the playoff round of qualification. Coach Motti Ivanir radically changed his lineup from their last 4-0 win over Bulgaria and will leave many Israel fans scratching their heads. This was his last game in charge and he put out a lower quality lineup that was defensive, but Israel still managed to dominate possession and chances in spite of this. Sweden got their goal off a cross which Dennis Avdic headed in after Oshri Roash was unable to clear it. The omission of Din Mori for the shorter Oshri Roash in defense is unforgivable especially since Mori is the better player. I didn’t understand him leaving Gai Assulin, Maor Buzaglo and Din Mori on the bench. All of whom are good players and will probably play for the senior team. Although I’m not a fan of Avi Luzon, I think that Ivanir proved him right by putting out a self-defeating lineup that said we don’t want to win. The new coach Guy Luzon will hopefully be able to recognize our best players and have the play as a cohesive unit.
